Through my faith, I encourage positive change in the world.

About me

Hello! My name is Sam, and I am a multi-talented human spirit whose professional life hasn't followed a specific path.

I learn from everything I observe and experience and see connections across industries and skills in ways that others don't. This has allowed me to try on many hats and excel in bringing something positive to a workspace no matter what new endeavor I try, regardless of if I am officially qualified for it or naturally inclined toward it.

I spent about 8 years in marketing and communications in my original pursuit of a traditional career, following through on my childhood dream of becoming a writer. However, I quickly grew weary of the high level of output and low level of quality expected from traditional 9-5 copywriting and editing roles and felt the need to get out of that trap.

During the COVID pandemic, realizing nothing was left for me in the Southwestern U.S., I moved from Phoenix, Arizona to Chicago, Illinois in a drastic shakeup of my entire life and the “beginning” of my spiritual journey. I was quickly plunged into an understanding of the city beyond what I could have imagined or planned for myself, and I remain interested in engaging with and building community to this day.

While I was being introduced to Chicago, the turn away from the valuation of humans and the outsourcing of content creation to AI became demoralizing and destroyed a large chunk of the jobs in my former industry, making it no longer viable as a full-time role. Already having started to leave, I pivoted to food and beverage, feeling called to be in person with others and to better understand nutrition and God's creations on the earth for us.

My professional trajectory is now entirely driven by my spiritual compass and my understanding that a traditional role is unlikely to honor my body or fulfill my purpose on this earth. I seek to take on a blend of part-time and consulting roles that speak to my spirit.

I consider no job too big or too small, as I understand the ripple effects of the universe can behave in ways that only God fully understands.

My interests include:

  • Human and animal wellbeing

  • Elimination of poverty and food insecurity

  • Urban planning and architecture

  • Sustainability

  • Urban farming

  • Nutrition

  • Climate change

  • Community building

  • Spirituality

In general, I am interested in building systems that will last for years to come. I believe in a mixture of short- and long-term action. Many need immediate help. By the same token, nature and systems building will take time to play out fully.
